Domain Name
In order to get started, a Domain Name (the name of your site -- www.yoursite.com) needs to be chosen and registered. You should choose a name that is easy to remember, and, gives the visitor an idea of what your site is about. | Please use the following form to check the availability of a domain name. Please provide a value for a domain name, including its extension (i.e., ".com", etc.). Please do not include the "www". A query on the appropriate WHOIS database will be performed.
I currently do lookups on ".com", ".net", ".org", and ".edu" domains.

Next, your web site will need to be hosted, so a hosting service provider must be found. A Web Host "rents" you a piece of cyberspace so that your site can be seen by the world. Choosing an affordable, reliable hosting service is critical to your site's success. You need to choose web hosting service that will allow your site to function as you want it to.
Other items which also need to be considered are:
- Decide what you want your web site to do.
- What material do you want to present?
- If you are selling a product, do you want an online shopping cart? Or, a list of your products with a description?
- Do you have a newsletter that your visitors can opt-in to?
- Who is your audience?
- Do you have photos of your products?
- Do you need a database-driven site?
